Greeters and Coffee Hour Hosts Needed

Stop by the Opportunities Table near the nametags to sign up to serve in the ministry of greeting and hospitality. Two greeters are needed each Sunday morning; arrive at church by 9:30 a.m. to present a warm welcome to visitors and members. Hosts for coffee hour are asked to supply food, prepare/setup coffee service and provide for a smooth time of conversation and fellowship. Sign up as a family or with another family or another church member. Be creative. A modest supply of cookies, crackers/cheese and/or fruit, veggies, is all that is needed to supply a light snack.

Grace Church Graduates

New Memebers - Pentecost Sunday, May 23

The members of GRACE UMC welcome three new persons into the faith community:

United Methodist Men

The Grace United Methodist Men will have their regular meeting on Saturday, June 12th. Breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m. with program (TBA) and meeting to follow.

We had a great attendance and fun program with Helen Waddell-Wyatt speaking to us about the Rockford Peaches Women’s Baseball Team. She played in 1950-51 and had some great stories to tell. Thank you, Helen, for your insight.

A great big thank you to the people involved with the UMM annual Mother/Daughter banquet. The 57 diners enjoyed the great dinner and speaker. The men did a great job with cooking and serving everyone in a timely fashion. Thanks to one and all.

For further information, please call Larry at 815-229-0785.

Larry Christensen, UMM President

United Methodist Women

Our May meeting and potluck dinner was wonderful as always. Grace Jurgens & Teri Schlub presented about the "Blanket Mission Project" which was very moving. Pam Highland was our hostess for the evening. Thank you, Pam.

We know some of you may not be able to get out at night for the UMW meetings and events, but if you would still like to pledge to the UMW by all means do so! If you have any questions, you may contact our treasurer, Sue Wegner. Sue will have pledge cards available for you if you need one.

We have many current activities that need to be discussed so we will have a June UMW meeting on Tuesday, June 1st at 6:00 pm. Come and enjoy the food, fellowship, and fun! Please remember this summer to read and pass around our Reading Program book, Shanghai Girls by Lisa See. We will be discussing this book in the fall with Donnette Nailor.

Peace and Love, Kendra Murphy
