Did you ever dream about traveling to cities like Damascus, Jerusalem, Antioch, or Lystra? Join us for Summer Sunday School in an "Amazing Race" to visit the cities Paul visited on his Missionary Journeys. Each week teams will compete to complete tasks and earn clues to guide them from one city to another as we learn about Paul.
Teams will learn about Paul's conversion from Saul and his blindness, or about Paul and Barnabus as they are stoned and dragged out of the city and then on to Antioch, where Paul meets with the members of the church and teaches them how to be strong in their faith.
Adults are needed to help out with Paul's Amazing Race. If you can help out one or two Sundays, please contact Donnette Nailor. The activities and materials will be available. We just need adults to supervise and help guide our young Christians.Underwear and socks for school age kids is our mission project for the summer. It is unbelievable, but some kids do not go to school because they do not have underwear. A group of local Rockford doctors have formed an organization to help make sure the lack of undergarments does not keep kids from learning. Check out the bin in the Gathering Space for information and to see how much we have collected so far. The Sunday School at Grace Church are Mission Warriors for the Lord.
AHOY MATEYS!! High Seas Expedition is the theme for this year's Vacation Bible School to be held July 11th – 15th at River Valley Community Church. Join K-5th graders from Grace UMC, River Valley and Creekwood Baptist in exploring Bible truths through a cargo of creative experiences. River Valley’s Praise Team Band will provide the live music for the VBS. Join Scully, Marina, Wink, Salty, and Lacey - the Bible Buddies - in experiencing faith building fun and conversation.
FREE!! Jump into VBS registration at Monkey Joe's on State Street, Tuesday, June 15th from 7:00 – 8:00. Kids get to play on all the inflatables at this fun place, while parents get the scoop on VBS. Don’t miss it! Adults: we need help decorating. Join us from 6:00 – 8:30 pm on Friday, July 9th at River Valley Community Church. Kidz Kits will be the mission project for VBS. Kidz Kits supplies short-term, critical needs to children who have been removed from their home by state welfare services. Packaged in a backpack, these kits are designed to reassure children during the first hours of transition, as they move to a positive, long-term family situation. Familiar items a child will likely need, such as blankets, stuffed toys, toiletries, pajamas, socks, underwear, bottles, formula and diapers will be collected for this mission project. Rich Holton and Steve Nailor lead a study/discussion group which meets before worship every Sunday from 8:45-9:30 a.m. On Sunday, May 30, the group will begin studying 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus. All are welcome to join the group in the Fellowship Hall.
The Sermon Discussion Group meets each Sunday morning after worship for study and discussion on the Sunday morning message. All are welcome. We have hot coffee and sweet treats in the Conference Room #7.
